Futurespace was engaged to deliver a strategic refurbishment of a former retail tenancy in Barangaroo, originally home to David Jones. The project involved transforming both the ground floor and Level 1 spaces into leasable shells, ready for new commercial occupancy.

The ground floor was returned to a cold shell, prepared for a major grocery retailer, while Level 1 was upgraded to a warm shell state. A tenancy split was executed across both levels, including the construction of compliant partitions around the internal stair to maintain safe and private access for future occupants.

Design interventions included:

• A full staircase upgrade, including tactile indicators, nosings, and updated finishes to meet safety and accessibility standards

• Curated new finishes on Level 1 to suit future workplace use

• Coordination of make-good works to meet Lendlease and building management requirements

The result is a high-quality, flexible base building repositioning that supports long-term tenant attraction and asset performance within Barangaroo’s evolving commercial precinct.
