The domestic feel of russell investments' new workplace means the team has a warm and welcoming 'home base'
—
futurespace worked with Russell Investments to assist the investment and superannuation specialist to relocate into 4200m2 across four floors in the Sydney CBD. Key objectives for the workplace were flexibility and ease of communication. Hence the design embraces an activity based work style with ‘innovation hubs’ each kitted out ergonomically and with appropriate ‘state of the art’ technology. The Russell Investments team are able to work in a range of settings based on tasks rather than status.
Due to the design of the new workplace, Russell Investment’s project teams are able to embrace an ‘activity based’ workstyle and to move locations based on their tasks for any one day. People can come together quickly and efficiently in a less formal whilst still ergonomic environment; what may look like informal breakout spaces are actually carefully designed work zones.
The design concept references the strong family culture of Russell Investments with a less formal and more approachable aesthetic. Client areas incorporate warm finishes such as timber veneer and broadloom carpets along with classic and contemporary furniture pieces. An interconnecting stair has been included to enhance traffic flow and vertical communication, and a best practice technology platform has been installed across the business in order to support flexible working conditions.
The client space features an illuminated fabric screen which wraps around a meeting pod adjacent to the boardroom. Workspaces are light and bright with contrasting bold colour against a black and white ‘no nonsense' base. Graphic treatments feature images selected by Russell Investments to emphasise the values and culture of this innovative global business.
