futurespace delivered an innovative new workplace for Janssen-Cilag, the pharmaceutical division of Johnson & Johnson at Waterloo Road in North Ryde. The aesthetic is clean, classic and timeless and the built environment provides a range of interesting and unique collaborative hubs for the Janssen-Cilag team.
Flexible work practises for this dynamic company are supported by an ingenious alternative to private offices that was developed as part of the project process. Steelcase’s Forward system was fashioned to create a series of ‘pavilions’ that provide visual privacy and many of the other desirable attributes of an enclosed office without having to build solid walls or modify air conditioning systems.
The new workplace has abundant natural light and ESD principles were implemented wherever possible to ensure a healthful and quality workplace. Materials, colours and finishes are light and fresh with clean, crisp details throughout. Meeting rooms include large sliding glazed panels in order to provide maximum flexibility and the base building “wintergardens” have been used as a central gathering and interaction area for the Janssen-Cilag team.
